Launching the PAE-Media Converter: Entering the Automotive Ethernet Era
A New Media Converter for Efficient Automotive Ethernet Development, Validation, and Fault Simulation
PEAK-System is pleased to announce the launch of its first Automotive Ethernet product, the PAE-Media Converter, marking another important milestone in the expansion of its in-vehicle networking portfolio. Designed for automotive development, testing, and validation, the new device seamlessly converts between 100BASE-T1 / 1000BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet and standard 100BASE-TX / 1000BASE-T Ethernet, enabling engineers to integrate Automotive Ethernet networks into existing development, analysis, and validation environments with ease.
Supporting both 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps communication, the PAE-Media Converter features hardware-based speed selection via DIP switches, eliminating the need for additional software configuration and allowing rapid deployment. For automated test applications, an optional USB API enables remote control and straightforward integration into automated validation and testing systems.
One of the key highlights of the PAE-Media Converter is its controlled Physical Link Interruption capability. Engineers can intentionally trigger link interruptions either directly on the device or remotely through the API, creating repeatable fault scenarios for network validation and diagnostic testing. This eliminates the need to repeatedly unplug and reconnect cables, reducing manual effort while minimizing connector wear and improving testing efficiency.
To further simplify Automotive Ethernet development, the PAE-Media Converter integrates both H-MTD and MATEnet connector support into a single device, reducing the need for external adapters. An integrated Frame Generator assists with link validation and wiring tests, while status LEDs provide immediate visual feedback on link status, signal quality, and error conditions, enabling faster diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Built for demanding automotive environments, the PAE-Media Converter features a rugged aluminum enclosure, an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and flexible power options via USB-C or 6–36 V DC. Fully compatible with standard Ethernet analysis tools, it can be easily integrated into automotive test benches, engineering laboratories, and validation workflows.
As Automotive Ethernet continues to play an increasingly important role in next-generation vehicle architectures, the introduction of the PAE-Media Converter further strengthens PEAK-System's networking portfolio while providing engineers with a reliable and efficient solution for Automotive Ethernet development, validation, and testing.
