This 1.5 meter DB9 to deutsch 9-pin adapter fits most heavy duty vehicles and lets you easily connect your CANedge/CLX000 CAN logger to start recording J1939 data.

We offer two variants: A standard J1939 Type 2 adapter cable, used in most heavy duty vehicles - and a CAT adapter cable, used in many Caterpillar vehicles & engines.

About The J1939-DB9 Adapter Cable

What can you use it for? The DB9-J1939 adapter cable is suited for use in most heavy duty vehicles - incl. trucks, transit buses, excavators, construction machinery and more. The cable lets you connect your CANedge/CLX000 CAN logger directly to the CAN bus with ease.

How to install it? You simply locate the J1939 9-pin connector in your heavy duty vehicle. Typically this will be directly visible in your cabin - though in some cases, you'll need to move a panel or unscrew a protection plate to reveal it.

Converting J1939 raw data When you've recorded raw J1939 data, you'll want to convert it to human-readable form. To do so, you can use our free CANvas software and the built-in FMS database to get started. This provides you with a small set of J1939 parameter conversion rules.

In heavy duty vehicle fleets, the simplest way to record J1939 data with your CAN logger is to connect it directly to the CAN bus via a DB9-J1939 adapter. This way, you'll automatically start logging all broadcasted raw J1939 data from the vehicle - allowing you to e.g. set up telematics solutions in no time.
