J1939 OBD ECU Simulator

Part No.: MPOZ-mOByDic1700
A compact, single-chip solution for simulating Truck and Car ECUs over the J1939 protocol.

Product Description

Description

The OE91C1700 is designed to support engineers and developers working with the J1939 protocol. With just a handful of external components, this single chip simulates a fully functional ECU, generating realistic diagnostic output over a 29-bit, 250 kbps CAN bus. It supports a range of J1979-compliant diagnostic messages (DMs) and lets you interact with live sensor values in real time — simply by turning a potentiometer.

Whether you're validating a J1939 diagnostic tool, testing an OBD scanner, or building out a training rig, the OE91C1700 gives you a reliable, low-cost way to generate standards-compliant ECU traffic without needing an actual vehicle.

Key Features

  • Fully compatible with the J1939 standard
  • Wide operating voltage range: 2.7 V to 6 V
  • Onboard MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) output
  • 29-bit / 250 kbps CAN bus communication
  • Supports select J1979-compliant diagnostic messages (DMs)
  • Simulates both Truck and Car ECUs
  • Fixed ECU source address: 0x00
  • 5 onboard potentiometers for live, adjustable sensor values
  • Built-in DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) generation and MIL indicator logic

How It Works

When the DTC input pin is pulled low, the simulator generates a diagnostic trouble code and turns on the MIL LED. The LED remains lit until an "erase DTC" command is received over the bus — mirroring real-world ECU behavior. Live values such as engine coolant temperature, engine speed, accelerator pedal position, vehicle speed, and intake manifold pressure can all be adjusted on the fly using the five onboard potentiometers.
