The Challenge

Politicians and society call for carbon-free air travel to counteract
global warming. Brand-new propulsion concepts have been
developed that now require extensive testing to match or even
surpass the safety of traditional systems. Battery electric concepts work well for air taxis with few passengers. For larger aircrafts, the
insufficient energy density of batteries favors hybrid concepts with
combustion and electric engines. IPETRONIK measurement
technology plays a vital role in the flight testing of a test aircraft
with one combustion turbine and four electric motors.

Optimal connection of various IPETRONIK and 3rd party measurement modules

► Monitoring and analysis of ARINC 429 & ARINC 825/CAN signals

► Harsh environment close to the turbines and motors (-40 … +85 °C)


The Solution

With the IPElog2, IPETRONIK has developed a tailor-made product
for fleet and flight testing. The measurement modules can be
connected to the logger via CAN or Ethernet. The data are
processed with the software IPEmotion RT and transferred to
external data nodes and to the ground station, i.a. via telemetry. All
sensor systems, measurement data, and digital bus systems are
available time-synchronously within one environment, guaranteeing
the full utilization of the test aircraft flight time.
